Abstract
Professor Shany will address cyberspace threats and related law enforcement challenges faced by academia, industry, and government.
Biography
Professor Yuval Shany is the Hersch Lauterpacht Chair in International Law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HU) and former Dean of the HU Faculty of Law (2012-2016). Professor Shany currently serves as the Vice-Chair (2017- 2018) of the UN Human Rights Committee, for which he has served as a senior jurist since 2013. He is also a senior research fellow at the Israel Democracy Institute.

Professor Shany currently chairs the Hebrew University’s Minerva Center for Human Rights’ academic committee and is a co-director of the Faculty’s International Law Forum and transitional justice program. Additionally, he heads the CyberLaw Program at the Hebrew University’s Cybersecurity Research Center. As part of this program, he investigates the application of the laws of war to cyber-attacks, the responsibility of states and companies to protect human rights over cyber-space and the regulation of on-line surveillance.
