Florida Atlantic University’s Human Powered Submarine Team won first place for speed and second in the overall competition at the 10th International Submarine Race (ISR).With the competition taking place underwater, these races are a challenge of human pedaling strength and endurance, as well as a test of putting academic theory into practice.
“One of the most valuable learning and team-building experiences our students can have comes from competition with their peers at the national level,” said Karl Stevens, dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science at FAU.
The next competition will be held in the Summer of 2011, June 27 to July 1, for the 11th Annual International Submarine Race.
